    Line editing goes line by line to ensure the meaning of the sentence is clear. I may make edits to the language used so the message connects with the intended audience. We want to ensure great flow and readability. Line editing does not deal with technical issues like punctuation, spelling, and grammar. However, I can do both services at the same time. This will have its own rate.

    Copyediting includes everything you get with essential proofreading but goes a bit more in depth. It’s a technical deep dive into your content that includes syntax and improved readability; consistency in style, tone, and details; and checks for potential copyright issues, libel, repetition, plot holes, and awkward phrasing.

    I like to begin each project with an initial review of the work to be done. This will help us determine the scope of work, time, deadlines, and estimated cost.

    I will prioritize your style guide—if provided—or use the Chicago Manual of Style and AP Stylebook.

    The time I spend editing is clocked on a timer; you will never pay for me to stop and let my dog outside.

    Please note:

    All projects have a minimum fee equal to one hour of service. After the first hour, time is calculated to the quarter hour.

    I understand there are times when you are pushed up against a deadline that you have committed to meeting. This might mean that you need me to turn around edits in a rushed timeframe. A 25% rush fee may be added to the total cost; it will be determined on a project basis and agreed upon before work begins.
